Taran Lancaster (she/her), MS, CCLS, has been providing individual and group grief support to children, adults, and families for the past five years. Taran is well experienced in providing grief support in a variety of settings, such as elementary schools, high schools, community centers, homes, long term care facilities, a grief support center, and virtual platforms. Additionally, Taran has worked closely with hospice patients and individuals living with chronic illness.

As a Certified Child Life Specialist, Taran has experience utilizing therapeutic play, explaining medical terminology in developmentally appropriate ways, and engaging in memory making with families at the end of an individual’s life. Having earned her Master’s of Thanatology in 2021, Taran gained graduate course level knowledge in traumatology, suicidology, hospice and palliative care, cultural perspectives and thanatology, and death in the lives of children and teens.

Taran values trauma informed care that is person-centered. She has experience engaging in therapeutic dialogue, identifying coping skills, expressing grief through movement, using expressive art activities, and active listening.

Taran’s goal is not to “fix” your grief, but to walk alongside you as a supportive presence. In the words of Megan Devine, “Grief is not a problem to be solved; it’s an experience to be carried.
