Gretchen Straus (she/her), MS, LPC, Gretchen is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering and Psychology as well as a Master’s of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. Gretchen has over 13 years of experience working in the field with individuals of all ages, backgrounds, needs and life circumstances, as well as providing education to practicing medical providers at UW Madison/UW Health.


Gretchen utilizes a variety of evidence-based techniques and practices to promote growth and wellbeing unique to each individual’s needs. Most importantly, she approaches each individual at their level with compassion to foster hope, healing and resiliency. She will guide you in exploration of your concerns and help to build a greater understanding of different aspects of your experience addressing emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing within the familial, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions.

Individual Skill Development and Enhancement

Individual Skill Development and Enhancement (ISDE) with Hope Inspired, for up to 12 hours per month, could include teaching, modeling, training and practice in communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision-making, self-regulation, conflict resolution, and other specific needs identified in your service plan. Services may also include training in daily living skills related to personal care, household tasks, financial management, transportation, shopping, parenting, accessing and connecting to community resources and services (including health care services), and other specific daily living needs identified in your service plan.


Services provided to minors also focus on improving integration into and interaction with the minor’s family, school, community, and other social networks. Services include assisting the minor’s family in gaining skills to assist the minor with individual skill development and enhancement.


Individual Family and Psychoeducation - Managing Mental Health/Substance Use Concerns

Individual and Family Psychoeducation services with Hope Inspired, for up to 12 hours per month,
