Dr. Cathy Mitchell (she/her), DNP, MSN, RN, is very enthusiastic about her new role with Hope Inspired as a Registered Nurse.  Dr. Cathy has been a registered nurse (RN) for 38 years.  She has advanced her academic and professional life during those 38 years. She graduated from high school at 16 years of age and was accepted into the McAuley School of Nursing at Mercy College of Detroit after completing the required prerequisites.  In 1987, Dr. Cathy graduated from nursing school obtaining an associate degree at 21 years of age. She returned to college 11 years later obtaining a bachelor's degree in nursing, with the goal of one day being a nurse manager/leader.  Dr. Cathy found that she thrives in learning new things and teaching others.  In addition to a bachelor’s degree in nursing, she has obtained a master’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in nursing, and a doctorate degree in nursing. 

After graduating from nursing school, Dr. Cathy was a critical care RN for 20-plus years.  During that period, she was also an RN educator teaching nursing clinical rotations and pathophysiology at the community college and university levels.  She has been the director of rehabilitation services for inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation; home health, and long-term care director of nursing services. She has also had roles as a certified case manager for insurers as well as inpatient and emergency room acute care settings.  Dr. Cathy comes to Hope Inspired from a quality improvement organization, where she reviewed all Fee-for-Service Medicaid inpatient medical records in the state of Wisconsin for quality, and/or utilization concerns. 

Last, but certainly not least, Dr. Cathy has three adult children. Ashley is 32 years old; Amber is 27; and Armo’n is 25. She has no grandchildren…. YET! 

Dr. Cathy’s goal in this new role is to make a positive impact in all areas of her role, provide exceptional service and care to the populations we serve; and continue the trajectory of new knowledge development and growth.
